Interview to Vixo 1HW * One Hit Wonder.

Tell us a little about the race 1HW * One Hit Wonder.

Well, I got involved in music since very young. I guess it was a very naughty boy because my parents insisted that my brother and I were studying music since before age 10. During high school and college, I moved away a bit of it. in college studying art and advertising. I work as a DJ. I got involved in music, and produced a Bizonte, rock band that was quite well accepted in the Midwest. Weekdays works in advertising and in the evening produced rock groups, and played on weekends as a DJ in various clubs and events in Mexico City, Puebla, Toluca, Tlaxcala, Cholula. But I always kept the ambition to write and produce my own music. However, I created all commitments prevented it. So I decided to pack up and move to the Riviera Maya, where I found time and inspiration to compose my own music.

You’ve been a musician and DJ, why make the leap to production, to compose?

Well, touch or mix is awesome. But not enough. When producing rock, played as a guest on many events. It is a very different feel touching music that you yourself have contributed, you have your touch. I know it will be much more satisfying mix my own music live. And with new technology, now anyone can mix. Requires only have a certain expertise. But not everyone can write. In fact, my card says producer and musician, rather than DJ.

And what pleases you most? Do you mix or produce?

I am a DJ efficient. I mix, I have a modest but own style. However, I am not an expert in technology. There are many DJs who manage and know a lot more equipment than I do. I’m not a DJ turntablism, I am no expert in scratcheo and all those specialized skills. I admit modestly. But compose, produce, is a very personal, and I know a few DJs and producers to do so.

1HW * You talk about a project. Does this imply that there are more musicians apart from you?

I am the leader and composer 1HW * One Hit Wonder, but yes, I have collaborations with other musicians and DJs. Especially Adriana Valeria Indalesio and V, a low battery and is scheduled for some of my compositions. The other is a great keyboard player and has accompanied me in live acts in Mexico City and your feedback is invaluable in the review of my compositions. But undoubtedly the most important collaborator Edgar 1HW * is Valerdi. Together the band produced Bizonte and Lucian, and he is responsible for the post and give the professional touch to my sound. Without it, would sound very different 1HW *.

Why trance?

By which I think is a very melodic kind of music, energy, allowing you to fly, and amid all this positive energy, there is room for sentiment and melancholy. Besides being a very flexible genre that can please any type of people. On the other hand, my music is not just trance. Has obvious touches of pop, electro, and perhaps a bit of dubstep.

What music influenced the sound of 1HW *?

For many, not just trance. In fact I listen to music of all types, from tropical products, to heavy metal, going through the triphop, dubstep, regional, hiphop, pop, etc.. Trance, my favorites are Brian Tranceu, Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Andre Tannenberger, and of course, all armed: Markus Schultz, Dash Berlin, and of course, Armin Van Buuren.

Are you playing somewhere permanently?

No. This year I’m focused on the production. However, do not rule out if the opportunity arises. In Quintana Roo have played in events with friends and special events in Bacalar, Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Chetumal. I love to be a resident DJ in Cancun or Playa del Carmen.

What are your plans for the future?

First of all, finish the album. Still no official name, but probably called 1HW * Fascination Theory. I am also looking for collaborators, specifically, a boy and girl singers. There are a couple of trance vocal on the disc, and I need someone to sing. Money is not only fame, lol. On the other hand, there are plans with some radio in the Midwest to present the album. Probably recorded a video in Quintana Roo. And the official launch will be early next year. And then a tour to present the material. On the other hand I have a project to have my own production house, which probably will be headquartered in this state. And I’m talking with some people to carry out this project. On the other hand, several local artists interested in producing them. And I will, when I have a moment. I also like to get a residency as a DJ in extanjero. Ibiza, Berlin, London or some place Tues

Cuéntanos un poco sobre la carrera de 1HW * One Hit Wonder.

Bueno, me involucré en la música desde muy pequeño. Supongo que era un niño muy travieso, ya que mis papás insistieron en que mi hermanito y yo estudiáramos música desde antes de los 10 años. Durante la prepa y la universidad me alejé un poco de ella. en la universidad estudie publicidad y arte. Me desempeñe como DJ. Me involucré en la música, y produje a Bizonte, grupo de rock que tuvo bastante buena aceptación en el centro del país. Entre semana trabaja en publicidad y por las noches producía a grupos de rock, y los fines de semana toqué como DJ en diversos antros y eventos de Ciudad de México, Puebla, Toluca, Tlaxcala, Cholula. Pero siempre mantuve la ambición de componer y producir mi propia música. Sin embargo, todos los compromisos creados me lo impedían. Así que decidí hacer las maletas, y mudarme a la Riviera Maya, donde he encontrado el tiempo y la inspiración para componer mi propia música.

Has sido músico y DJ, ¿por que dar el salto a la producción, a componer?

Bueno, tocar o mezclar es padrísimo. Pero no basta. Cuando producía rock, toqué como invitado en muchos eventos. Y es una sensación muy diferente el tocar música en la que tú mismo has contribuido, que tiene tu toque. Sé que será mucho más satisfactorio mezclar en vivo mi propia música. Además con las nuevas tecnologías, ahora cualquiera puede mezclar. Requiere de tener sólo cierta pericia técnica. Pero no cualquiera puede componer. De hecho, en mi tarjeta dice productor y músico, antes que DJ.

¿Y que te satisface más? ¿Mezclar o producir?

Soy un DJ eficiente. Mezclo, tengo un estilo modesto pero propio. Sin embargo, no soy un experto en tecnología. Hay muchos DJs que manejan y conocen muchos más equipo que yo. Tampoco soy un DJ turntablism, no soy experto en scratcheo y todas esas habilidades especializadas. Lo reconozco modestamente. Pero componer, producir, es un proceso muy personal, y conozco a pocos DJs y productores que lo hagan.

Hablas de 1HW * como un proyecto. ¿Esto implica que hay más músicos aparte de ti?

Yo soy el líder y compositor de 1HW * One Hit Wonder, sin embargo, sí, tengo colaboraciones de otros músicos y DJs. Sobre todo de Adriana Indalesio y Valeria V, una ha programado baterías y bajos para algunas de mis composiciones. La otra es una excelente tecladista y me ha acompañado en live acts en la ciudad de México y su opinión es inestimable en la revisión de mis composiciones. Pero sin duda, el colaborador más importante de 1HW * es Edgar Valerdi. Juntos produjimos a las banda Bizonte y Lucian, y él es el responsable de la postproducción y de darle el toque profesional a mi sonido. Sin él, 1HW * sonaría muy diferente.

¿Por que música trance?

Por que creo que es un tipo de música muy melódica, energética, que te permite volar, y en medio de toda esa energía positiva, existe un espacio para el sentimiento y la melancolía. Además de ser un genero muy flexible, que puede gustarle a cualquier tipo de personas. Por otro lado, mi música no es solo trance. Tiene evidentes toques de pop, electro, y quizá una pizca de dubstep.

¿Que músicos influyen en el sonido de 1HW *?

Pues muchos, y no solo de trance. De hecho escucho música de todo tipo, desde géneros tropicales, hasta heavy metal, pasando por el triphop, el dubstep, el regional hiphop, pop, etc. De trance, mis favoritos son Brian Tranceu, Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, André Tannenberger, y claro, todo armada: Markus Schultz, Dash Berlin, y por supuesto, Armin Van Buuren.

¿Estás tocando en algún lugar de manera permanente?

No. Este año estoy enfocado a la producción. Sin embargo, no descarto hacerlo si surge la oportunidad. En Quintana Roo he tocado en eventos de amigos y eventos particulares en Bacalar, Cancún, Playa del Carmen y Chetumal. Me encantaría ser DJ residente en Cancún o Playa del Carmen.

¿Que planes tienes a futuro?

Primero que nada, terminar el disco. Aún no tiene nombre oficial, pero probablemente se llame 1HW * Fascination Theory. También estoy buscando colaboradores, en específico, un chico y una chica cantantes. Hay un par de trance vocales en el disco, y necesito que alguien los cante. Dinero no hay, solo fama, jajaja. Por otro lado, ya existen planes con algunas radiodifusoras del centro del país para presentar el disco. Probablemente grabemos un video en Quintana Roo. Y la presentación oficial será a principios del próximo año. Y luego, una gira para presentar el material. Por otro lado tengo el proyecto de tener mi propia casa productora, que seguramente tendrá su sede en este estado. Y estoy en pláticas con algunas personas para llevar a cabo ese proyecto. Por otro lado, hay varios artistas locales interesados en que los produzca. Y lo haré, en cuanto tenga un momento. Tambien me gustaría obtener una residencia como D.J. en el extanjero. Ibiza, Berlin, Londres, o algún lugar con mar.
